Qrendi Football Club

Qrendi Football Club was founded for the first time in 1955 and is currently competing in Third Division of the Malta Football Association.

From its Nursery it produced several players and distinct officials who sounded their name throughout the country. Dr. Joe Mifsud currently the Malta Football Association President is originally from our village and before his current post, for many years he occupied the post of President of our club. Mr. Carmelo Gauci (il-Busby), ex-kit manager of the National Team has also for many years occupied a very important role in the committee as a team manager and now we have the privilege to have him as our Honorary President.

As players we cannot not mention Joe (il-Faqi) Farrugia who played for Sliema Wanderes and Marsa FC. He also played against Juventus as a Marsa player while in Australia he played with Melita Eagles.

Aldrin Muscat also a Qrendi FC product. He played in the premier league with Zurrieq FC and Sliema Wanderes where in 1995/96 he finished the league as top scorer with 18 goals and also won the Premier League. He played also with several other teams like Gozo FC, Qormi FC, Msida FC

Another player to mention is the ex MFA treasurer Norman Darmanin Demajo (id Dede) who played for Qrendi FC and then transferred to Valletta FC for the sum of LM 700.00 (€ 1630.00) which was considered a lot of money in the 70’s/80’s.

The club experienced some financial problems in 1995 just a year later the team had been promoted to second division with no losses and just a draw. However 10 years later in 2006, a new committee with 10 hard working and dedicated members was founded.
